Read Psalm 91:1 - 2
By Sam and Sue Stack

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it Jesus is my plea,
Daily, walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

The story goes about a father leaving home on a long trip. The father wrote his son a note saying: “I will be away on your birthday, but will be home by Saturday with your gift. What would you like – a video game, new bike, or MP3 player? What did the boy circle? Saturday, he could have chosen any gift, but the gift he wanted most was time with dad.

The heart of the song, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” is that we pray to know and walk closely with our Heavenly Father. It is good to know that He is not an absent Father. He wants to share our burden and guide us daily in our walk with Him.

Applying Truth as an Individual
Do you fully trust the Lord with all your plans? Do you recognize as the song says that you are weak and He is strong? Pray today that God will reveal to you areas that you still need to give over to His leadership.

Applying the Truth as a Church
Do we as a church fully lean on God’s guidance? Do we try to have church our way and leave God out of the picture? Pray today that we as a church will make God our refuge, our place of safety, and that we will fully trust Him to lead us.
