Read Psalm 119: 17 - 20
By Sam and Sue Stack
Open my eyes that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me
Place in my hand the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for Thee
Ready my God, Thy will to see
Open my eyes, Illumine me, Spirit divine!
Often times I hear people say, “I’m just too busy for this or for that.” I have said it many times myself. But I wonder how many times we miss the prompting of God in our lives because we fill our time with something good instead of something that is better.
Are we too busy to pray? I hope not. This old hymn written by Clara Scott in the late 1800’s, calls us to take the time to stop and listen to what God has for us and then to act on it. Clara was a music teacher and composer. Her life as a teacher and composer gives us evidence that she was open to God’s leading and was ready to share through her music what God had done for her.
Applying Truth as an Individual
How busy are you with the cares of life? How much time out of the day do you spend in prayer and reading the Word?
Find time today to pray and read the Word and ask God to open your eyes to see His Truth, your ears to hear His Truth, and your mouth to speak His Truth.
Applying the Truth as a Church
Pray today for the members of Pleasant Valley that God will open our eyes to see His truth, open our ears to hear His truth, and open our mouths to speak His Truth.
Pray that God will work in our hearts to follow the truths of this passage.
