Every year, around this time, I start to get excited about the upcoming football season. I look at all the moves my team has made, and start to think and hope that this is going to be the year that they put it together and win the super bowl. Most years, I feel like we have the team that could win it all, I get high hopes, thinking that the super bowl is within our grasps! Then, unfortunately, usually in December or January, my heart is broken, when my team's season ends. However, 4 times in my life, I have seen my team make it all the way to the super bowl, and 3 of those times they won it. Of course, I got all excited, and wore my t-shirts, and hats with pride! We reached the pinnacle of the pro-football season with success!
When I think about this, in my life, and in our church-life, it saddens me to think that I often overlook the excitement that can be gained through church. When you think about it, there are several similarities. We have a team put together (people of our church), we have a coach (Pastor Keith), we have a playbook (the Bible) and we have an owner (God). Ultimately we are all working towards the same purpose, like a team trying to win a game, we are trying to be a winning church. I believe a winning church is a church that desires to honor and glorify God in all that we do! Everything else will fall into place, if we first, honor and glorify God.
With this being said, let's be a winning church! A church that honors and glorifies God in all that we do!
